From quiet biopics like JK Rush and In the Heart of the Sea to punishing, fighting, and running away from the law in action movies like Extraction and Red Dawn, to starring in blockbusters like Thor and The Avengers, he has starred in many superhit films.
So now he has decided to take a break from working. But we must have a look at his best works.

Star Trek (2009 ‧ Sci-fi/Action)

Before adjusting himself into the hammer-wielding Prince of Asgard known and loved today, Chris kickstarted his acting career as the fearless dad, George Kirk. Though his supervision on the USS Starship Kelvin didn’t last longer than 10-minutes onscreen, he filled the corny energy for us and left an involuntary pile of stable daddy issues for his newborn son. People still talk about Chirs Hemsworth’s complicated feelings of love and bravery in the film directed by J.J. Abrams (movies director), who enjoys his action movies with serious themes.
Blackhat (2015 ‧ Action/Thriller)

A movie that wants to make us believe Hemsworth is an intelligent cyberhacker trying to take down crime syndicates is a winner. In an action-packed thriller, his role is unlike anything he’s done before or since. Chris Hemsworth plays a clever hacker who was sent to prison after being charged with redistributing wealth (read: stealing 🙂 ) money from five US banks to average everyday citizens. However, after a significant cyber attack threatens national security, he’s discharged on the condition that he helps the FBI find the offender. Hemsworth bypasses bullets, throws punches, and writes computer code like a boss.
In The Heart of the Sea(2015 ‧ Adventure/Drama)

Hemsworth is mainly known for blockbuster action films, but he’s not scared to show his range in the occasional biopic. The Heart of the Sea showcases Hemsworth’s natural charisma and subtlety as Owen Chase, a modest whaler with a taste for adventure. Hemsworth played the swash-buckling pirate; that you never thought of. It is the second biographical drama for Hemsworth and his second partnership with Ron Howard after One biopic Rush. It also marks the first movie featuring Hemsworth and Tom Holland, who would again team up after three years for Avengers: Infinity War.
The Cabin in the Woods (2012 ‧ Horror/Comedy)

Chris Hemsworth is going to seize the lead and steal the show. So, it’s no surprise he ended up purposefully typecast as the stereotypical jock and group leader in the Drew Goddard dark comedy horror movie The Cabin in the Woods. The film is overall good fun, but what makes it a unique entry on this list is that it’s an earlier showcase of Hemsworth’s comedic delivery that glows in later films like Thor: Ragnarok.
Extraction (2020 ‧ Action/Thriller)

Extraction is a high-octane, thrill-seeker’s fantasy movie. The political action thriller was written by the Russo Brothers. That played around Chris Hemsworth, a dangerous, money-oriented who somehow maintains a heart of gold while guarding a teen with a large bounty on his head. Between the thorough kicks, gun fights, and high-level punches, Hemsworth is clearly in his prime Jean-Claude Van Damme era. This film also required on, and off-screen remarkable stunt work from Hemsworth. Director Sam Hargrave said that Hemsworth managed to hold his breath for nearly 3-minutes during the filming of a cliff diving stunt. In addition, Hemsworth regularly shared his intense workout on his Instagram to show how he altered his Thor body.
Bad Times at the El Royale (2018 ‧ Suspense/Drama)

From the beginning of his career, an undoubtedly a fearless dad in Star Trek, we also saw him play more amusing roles in horror films like A perfect Gateway and the not to mention The Cabin in the woods. It is not to be surprising that he’s very good at playing out-of-the-box characters despite having so few of those roles. Hey, Hemsworth gives us a more horrific villain 😀
Thor: Ragnarok (2017 ‧ Action/Superhero)

This list can’t be completed without mentioning one of the most pleasing adventures as the hammer-wielding God and our planet’s most robust and handsome Avenger, Thor, the son of Odin. The first few films in his solo role cast Thor as the self-serious and selfish Prince. However, that character was well-received in the Avengers franchise. They were very suspenseful about the critical planning of Thor: Dark World. The Thor franchise got a second chance when director Takia Waititi stepped in. Under his direction, Chris Hemsworth was allowed to express a comprehensive range of emotions and utilize his knack for moment comedic humor. Ragnarok marked Hemsworth’s sixth appearance as the rowdy hero. His new take and behavior have created the movies more fun than ever.
