The announcement comes ahead of the third season of ‘The Witcher, which will arrive in the summer of 2023
The Witcher’s third season has yet to be released on Netflix, but the streaming service confirmed that the show has been renewed for a fourth season. However, they also announced that Henry Cavill, who has played protagonist Geralt for the first three seasons, won’t be returning. Instead, he’s being replaced for season 4 by Liam Hemsworth.
In Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam, he had a cameo as Superman. More projects related to the superheroes of DC have been in line. Maybe Cavill will be cast in the “Man of Steel 2”.

Hemsworth also reacted to the news in a statement, saying he was “over the moon” at the chance to play Geralt. “As a Witcher fan I’m over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia,” he said in a statement. “Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I’m honoured that he’s handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure. Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m truly excited to be stepping into The Witcher world.”

In a Tweet shared on Saturday, Netflix also welcomed the actor to “The Witcher” family.

This British actor was born on 5th May 1983, and is known for portraying Charles Brandon in Showtime’s The Tudors and DC Comics superhero Superman in the DC Extended Universe. But his role as Geralt of Rivia in seasons 1-3 of the Netflix fantasy series The Witchers likes people very much.

The first “Witcher” season, set in a fantasy landscape called the Continent, followed three main characters – Geralt, mysteriously magical Princess Ciri (Freya Allan), and powerful sorceress Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) – through different intertwining nonlinear timelines. They finally merged in the season finale as Geralt, tied by destiny to Ciri, finally meets this young girl with the power of foresight, and Yennefer, Geralt’s quarter-elf love interest caught in the middle of a war, disappears after wiping out an army using flame magic.
Of course, Geralt is a magnet for various odd creatures, and Cavill is top-notch when slicing and dicing multiple things and people. It’s the quieter moments, like when Geralt has a heart-to-heart dad chat with Ciri, that the actor gets to showcase the beating heart of a guy who’s not supposed to have a human side.

Netflix’s The Witcher is a show much like its protagonist: large, rugged, and not fond of describing such a thing. The story epic stars Henry Cavill as silver-haired hunk Geralt of Rivia – a gruff wanderer and Witcher. For some of us, that will be enough: Henry Cavill can Geralt our Rivias all day long. But, unfortunately, The Witcher is more complex an adventure than, say, The Mandalorian.
Who is Geralt of Rivia?
As a witcher, Geralt is stronger than an average human, with more incredible stamina. He can take more punishment and heal quicker. Geralt is destined to meet Ciri, a princess of the region of Cintra with who he has a special connection – even when he doesn’t know it.
Who is Ciri?
The granddaughter of Queen Calanthe Ciri – or Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon, who sometimes goes just by the name of Fiona – is a princess of the region of Cintra. Calanthe is known to her people as the Lioness of Cintra, which is why Ciri is referred to as Lion Cub. Pavetta, Ciri’s mother, plays but a small role in this Netflix adaptation. Ciri is a young girl in the Netflix show, much more youthful than how she appears in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt video game. For a while, she travels with Dara, a new character created for the show.
What’s The Continent?
The narrow-looing land is divided into multiple regions, each ruled by a king or queen. To the east are the mountains of Haakland, the mysterious realm of Zerrikania, and the Korath Desert. To the west, the Great Sea and the Isles of Skellige.
There are more notable characters in the series. Although only seasons 1 and 2 are available on the streaming service, season 3 will be released in the summer of 2023.
